Smeal Hosts Real Estate Lecture Series

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (March 10, 2005)—Penn State’s Smeal College of Business will host the inaugural Advance Realty Group Real Estate Lecture at 4 p.m. on March 17 in the Nittany Lion Inn Ballroom C. Keith Getter, managing director and chief of staff at Legg Mason, and John McGurk, president of Rothschild Realty, will discuss “Real Estate as a Favored Asset Class.”

In his role at Legg Mason, Getter’s responsibilities include transaction overview, administration and personnel management, strategic planning, and oversight of the recruiting, training, and marketing functions for the company’s Investment Banking division. Getter joined Legg Mason in 1995 from Alex, Brown & Sons. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Advance Realty Group, Victory Real Estate Investments, and Ampcast.com.

McGurk founded Rothschild Realty in 1981 and supervises all of the firm’s activities. He was previously a vice president at Prudential, where he oversaw the company’s New York City real estate portfolio of loans, equity holdings, joint ventures, and projects under development. McGurk is a member of the Board of Directors for Advance Realty Group and Merritt Properties.

Peter J. Cocoziello formed Advance Realty Group in 1979 in Bedminster, N.J., six years after graduating from Smeal with a B.S. in finance. He serves as president and CEO of the company, which specializes in real estate development, construction, and property management and has grown into the Boston, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. markets.

In 2004, he and his wife, Sharon, pledged $1 million in 2004 to support construction of the college’s new building, which will open its doors this summer. The new lecture series was established to recognize their generosity.
