MBAs Support THON With Auction

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (February 17, 2005)—The student-run MBA Association at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business, will host an auction and networking event from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on March 31 in the Nittany Inn Lion Ballroom in support of the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, an annual fund-raiser benefiting children with cancer.

The live and silent auctions will feature a range of items including football memorabilia, local gift cards, artwork, and jewelry. The auctions coincide with MBA Visitation Weekend and Diversity Appreciation Weekend, events for prospective MBA students to explore life at Smeal. At-the-door admission is $10, with advanced tickets available for $5 until March 30 by calling 863-0474 or visiting 106 Business Administration Building.

“We’re anxious to put our best foot forward to prospective students while also lending our support to a great cause and a Penn State tradition,” said Jesse Neumyer, event coordinator. “One of the great aspects of the Smeal MBA program is the tight-knit sense of community we all share, and this evening will typify that atmosphere.”

Smeal’s MBA Association (MBAA) is the largest student-run organization in the MBA program. The association works closely with the administration of the college to represent the student body and enhance life both inside and outside the classroom. Other initiatives during the year include a mock interview program, football tailgates, intramural sports, faculty teaching awards, and a student mentoring program.

For more information on the auctions, contact Neumyer at jbn118@psu.edu or Leslie Krell at ljk173@psu.edu. Learn more about the Smeal MBAA at http://www.smeal.psu.edu/mba/studorgs/mbaa.

The IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON™) is a year-round fundraising event benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund at the Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey. The year culminates in a no-sitting, no-sleeping, 48-hour dance marathon held every February. Over the past 30 years, the students of THON have raised more than $30 million and have helped thousands of children and families fight pediatric cancer. For more on THON, visit http://www.thon.org.
