Smeal College Seeks Nominees For Alumni Society Board
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA -- At least one open seat on the Smeal College Alumni Society Board will be up for election, and the board's nominating committee is now soliciting suggestions for nominees. The election will take place during the Alumni Society board's closed session on Thursday, March 27, 2003, and will be announced during its open meeting, Friday, March 28, 2003. All Smeal College alumni are eligible to run, and special consideration will be given to those who have demonstrated past service to Penn State.
To nominate alumni for the Smeal College Alumni Society Board, please forward information on the alum to Phil Bolda, director of development in Penn State's Smeal College of Business, via e-mail at alumni@smeal.psu.edu or by phone 814-863-0345. Nominations should arrive no later than February 1, 2003.
The Smeal College Alumni Society Board is the governing body for the Smeal College Alumni Society. To help fulfill its mission to provide a means to enhance the reputation and diversity of the College, the group represents alumni interests to college administrators, faculty, and the public. The members assist current students with the transition from campus life to the business world with a mentoring program and ongoing career coaching.
Penn State's Smeal College of Business formed its Alumni Society in the 1970s during the administration of Dean Emeritus Eugene J. Kelley to better serve the changing needs of the alumni, faculty, students, and staff of the college. Current programs sponsored by the board include mentoring and networking events on and off campus, classroom speakers, a student scholarship, and an array of alumni recognitions. The board consists of twenty at-large members who may serve three consecutive three-year terms and a revolving roster of ex-officio members representing the students, faculty, and administration of the college.
Membership in the society includes all graduates, former students, faculty, and friends of Smeal who are regular annual, life or associate members of the Penn State Alumni Association.
