U.S. News Ranks Smeal Among Top Ten Public Business Programs

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (August 18, 2006)—Penn State's Smeal College of Business is ranked 18th overall and 10th among public universities in this year's U.S. News & World Report rankings of undergraduate business programs, which was released today.

This is the second year in a row that the magazine's "America's Best Colleges" feature has ranked Smeal 18th overall. Last year, the college was ranked 11th among public universities.

Smeal is ranked sixth among Big Ten universities, according to the magazine, tying with Ohio State and Purdue.

U.S. News also ranked Smeal's Supply Chain Management degree program fifth in the nation. Other Smeal specialty areas ranked among the top 20 include:

  • Finance: 20th
  • Management: 12th
  • Marketing: 19th
  • Production/Operations Management: 17th

The magazine publishes "America's Best Colleges" annually. The rankings are based solely on a survey of deans and senior faculty members at business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
