Bestselling Author Addresses EMBA, MBA Students

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (August 17, 2006)-More than 75 students enrolled in the Penn State Smeal College of Business Executive MBA Program in Philadelphia traveled to State College to have lunch with Keith Ferrazzi, bestselling author of Never Eat Alone and CEO of Ferrazzi Greenlight Inc. Ferrazzi addressed both EMBA and MBA students on Aug. 24 about the importance and value of networking for career success. Ferrazzi's visit kicked off the Smeal EMBA "on campus" immersion week, and was the headline event of the students' week-long visit to University Park. His appearance was part of the Smeal EMBA Executive Speaker Series, a quarterly event which allows professionals enrolled in the program to hear from today's top business leaders.

Ferrazzi, whom Inc. magazine has hailed as one of the world's most "connected" people, revealed how relationships have been critical to his storied career. Ferrazzi has held the distinctions of being the youngest person tapped for partner at Deloitte Consulting, where he served as chief marketing officer, and the youngest chief marketing officer in a Fortune 500 company upon joining Starwood Hotels. In addition to sharing his own path to success and the value of building relationships in business, Ferrazzi led students in developing personal relationship action plans to guide their own careers.

"Keith Ferrazzi's name is synonymous with leadership and success," said Dennis Sheehan, dean of Smeal's MBA programs. "A primary focus of the Smeal EMBA program is to bolster our students' leadership skills, so we are thrilled to have such a prominent figure in business be a part of our Executive Speaker Series. In combination with classroom instruction from Penn State Smeal professors, case-based discussions and textbook learning, seminars from seasoned business professionals result in an unparalleled education experience for executives throughout the Philadelphia and mid-Atlantic region."

Past lecturers of the Executive Speaker Series include John Bogle, founder of Vanguard Group; Thomas Clarke, president of new business ventures for Nike; and John Surma, chairman and CEO of U.S. Steel.
