UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (April 14, 2006)—A bronze statue by a prominent artist was erected last month in Hintz Plaza outside of the Business Building, home to the Smeal College of Business.

A gift from Smeal alumnus Edward Hintz '59 FIN and his wife Helen, the sculpture is a life-size depiction of a woman walking through the plaza carrying a briefcase. The piece, named "The CEO," is the work of artist Glenna Goodacre and is a portrayal of her daughter.

Goodacre also created the "Olympic Wannabes," the five bronze sculptures of children doing cartwheels outside of the Hintz Family Alumni Center on the Penn State campus. Two of her most notable works are the Vietnam Women's Memorial in Washington and her depiction of Sacagawea on the U.S. dollar coin minted in 2000.

Ed and Helen Hintz are ardent supporters of Smeal and Penn State. Ed is president of Hintz, Holman, and Robillard, Inc., a private money management firm specializing in investment management for individuals and endowments, which he founded in 1974. He is past president of the Penn State Board of Trustees and a member of the Smeal Board of Visitors. He was named Alumni Fellow of the College in 1982 and Distinguished Alumnus of the University in 1987.

In 2003, the Hintzes contributed $2 million to the construction of the Business Building, resulting in the Edward R. and Helen Skade Hintz Plaza being named in their honor.
