Palumbo, Bogle To Speak At Smeal College Commencement Ceremonies
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (April 26, 2004) – Daniel Palumbo (MBA ’83), chief marketing officer and senior vice president of The Coca-Cola Company, and John Bogle, founder of the Vanguard Group, will address graduates of Penn State’s Smeal College of Business in May as part of the college’s MBA pre-commencement and undergraduate commencement ceremonies, respectively.
The MBA pre-commencement ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on May 9 in the HUB Alumni Hall and will precede the May 15 ceremony for all master’s candidates in Penn State’s Graduate School. The Smeal undergraduate commencement will begin at 4:30 p.m. on May 15 in the Bryce Jordan Center.
About Daniel Palumbo
After completing his MBA at the Smeal College, Palumbo joined Procter and Gamble and held a number of domestic and European line management roles. He joined Eastman Kodak in 1997 as chief marketing officer and vice president for the company’s worldwide Consumer Imaging Business, where he was responsible for brand management and global marketing strategy. Palumbo later served as corporate vice president and president of Consumer Imaging, eventually advancing to senior vice President. Palumbo was named to his current position with Coca-Cola in 2003, where he oversees all aspects of the company’s marketing and brand building. He is also a member of The Coca-Cola Executive Committee.
About John Bogle
Bogle, who was recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the four financial “Giants of the 20th Century,” is the founder of investment company The Vanguard Group. He currently serves as president of the Bogle Financial Markets Research Center. Bogle, a magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University and the author of many publications on investing, including the best-selling book “Bogle on Mutual Funds,” was recognized by the Association for Investment Management and Research with its Award for Professional Excellence. He also received the lifetime Award of Distinction from the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia and is a member of the Hall of Fame of the Fixed Income Analysts Society. At the undergraduate commencement ceremony, Bogle will be presented with an honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters.
