Smeal College Of Business Launches New Web site
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA -- The Web site for Penn State's Smeal College of Business has a new look, thanks to a joint effort with IBM. Smeal College launched its redesigned web presence ( www.smeal.psu.edu ) on April 26.
The Smeal College Research, Instruction, and Information Technology (RIIT) Group - along with members of the College's staff, faculty, and students -- completed a comparative analysis by benchmarking 42 Web sites of peer business schools and private firms, wrote the content, coded the pages, and conducted system tests and user analysis. IBM created the design and created a content strategy.
"The new site speaks to our external audience's prospective students, corporate partners, alumni, and peer schools, and has much improved navigation features," says Judy Olian, Dean of Penn State's Smeal College of Business. "It is designed to entice our partners to want to learn more about us, share exciting developments at the Smeal College as they occur, and deliver that information with very few clicks."
Highlights of the site include links to other areas within and outside the University that may be useful to the viewer. Examples include links from the Prospective Students page to the Collegian, a virtual tour of the campus, and State College.com.
"The site is designed for the visitor to take action immediately on key exchanges, such as applying to a program, contacting Smeal, and getting involved in alumni activities just to name a few, " says Ginger Breon, director of Administrative and Information Systems in Smeal College.
Another highlight is the calendar of events available throughout the site. "This can be customized by the user to focus on specific types of events or programs. It's another way for us to collaborate closely with our partners," says Breon.
