Ten New Faculty Members Join Smeal
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (September 11, 2007) – Penn State's Smeal College of Business recently welcomed 10 new members to its faculty.
Shaun Bond, Visiting Associate Professor of Real Estate
Shaun Bond joins Smeal from the University of Cambridge, where he holds the
positions of university senior lecturer in real estate finance and director of
studies for Pembroke College. He has also served as a visiting faculty member at
the University of Queensland in Australia and at George Washington
University.
Bond holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Queensland, and a master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge.
Forrest Briscoe, Assistant Professor of Management
Forrest Briscoe comes to Smeal after serving for fours years as assistant professor of labor and employment relations and sociology in Penn State's College of the Liberal Arts. His research interests include the study professional organizations and careers, organizational theory and institutional theory, and the employment relationship.
Briscoe holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in management from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Glen Kreiner, Assistant Professor of Management
Glen Kreiner joins Smeal's management faculty after serving as a faculty member at the University of Cincinnati. His research focuses on identity and identification, roles and role transitions, work-family balance and boundaries, and workplace emotions.
Kreiner holds a bachelor's and master's degree from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
Mirko Kremer, Assistant Professor of Supply Chain and Information Systems
Mirko Kremer returns to Smeal after serving as a visiting researcher at the college last year. He has also served in research positions at France's INSEAD and the University of Mannheim in Germany. His research focuses on the behavioral underpinnings of decision making in the broader context of operations management.
Kremer holds a bachelor's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Mannheim.
William Machuga, Instructor in Supply Chain and Information Systems
William Machuga comes to Smeal with 25 years of extensive supply chain management and procurement experience. He has been responsible for the process redesign and implementation of new supply chain organizations, strategies, and logistical networks, and has effectively managed multi-site inventories and led the corporate procurement process.
Machuga holds a bachelor's degree from Smeal and an M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Felisa Preciado-Walters, Clinical Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management
Felisa Preciado-Walters joins the Smeal faculty after spending five years as Latin American operations supply chain senior specialist for Kimberly-Clark in Georgia and Panama. She brings to Smeal teaching experience from Purdue University and The Florida A&M University and The Florida State University College of Engineering.
Preciado-Walters holds a bachelor's degree from Florida A&M University, a master's degree from Florida State University, and a Ph.D. from Purdue University.
Lukas Roth, Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance
Lukas Roth rejoins Smeal after spending the 2006-2007 academic year at the college as a visiting scholar. He brings to Smeal teaching experience from the University of Bern in Switzerland. His research expertise focuses on empirical asset pricing and issues in market microstructure and liquidity.
Roth holds master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Bern.
Michael Rothkopf, Smeal Chair in Supply Chain and Information Systems
Michael Rothkopf joins Smeal from Rutgers University, where he served jointly as a faculty member in the Management Science and Information Systems Department and RUTCOR (the Rutgers Center for Operations Research). He had been on the Rutgers faculty since 1988 with his teaching and research interests focused on applied mathematical modeling, auctions, applications of operations research, and energy economics.
Rothkopf holds a master's degree in industrial management and a Ph.D. in operations research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Fenghua Song, Assistant Professor of Finance
Fenghua Song comes to Smeal after earning a Ph.D. in finance from Washington University. His research interests include corporate finance, financial intermediation, and the economics of information.
In addition to his Ph.D., Song holds a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University in China and a master's degree in finance from the National University of Singapore.
John Stevens, Director of the Master of Professional Studies in Supply Chain Management
John Stevens joins Smeal from Penn State's Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses, where he served since 2004 as director of business administration programs. He is emeritus professor of management and former chair of Lehigh University's Department of Management. An Army National Guard Major General, Stevens served on active duty as Assistant Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Materiel Command from September 2001 to 2004.
Stevens holds a bachelor's degree and M.B.A. from the University of Dayton and a master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati.
