UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (September 9, 2005)—South-Western, a division of the Thomson Corporation, has published the sixth edition of Transportation, a textbook by three former and current Smeal College of Business professors.
Transportation features new chapters and major rewrites addressing the current state of transportation, taking into consideration current events such as rising fuel costs and terrorism threats. The book also speaks to the latest trends in transportation, such as GPS tracking systems, alternative energy sources, and transportation management systems.
The textbook is the work of John J. Coyle, professor emeritus of business administration and director of corporate relations for the Center for Supply Chain Research at Smeal; Edward J. Bardi, principal of Bardi Consulting and professor emeritus of logistics and transportation at the University of Toledo; and Robert A. Novack, associate professor of supply chain management at Smeal.
In their book, the authors examine the role of the transportation of goods, services and people in today's society. They further address the importance of transportation in the current international business environment, considering continued global expansion and the growing worldwide marketplace.
The sixth edition of Transportation is available now. The original version of the book was published in 1982.
