UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (October 22, 2007) – The Penn State Smeal College of Business MBA and Executive MBA Programs are sponsoring a conference on Nov. 6 in New York City for women in business to meet and share tools, tactics, and strategies for success.

PINK magazine is the host of the third annual PINK Conference Series featuring six events across the United States that bring together influential women business leaders to discuss life-balance issues, career success strategies, and valuable business lessons.

The Smeal-sponsored New York event will feature panelists Cathie Black, president of Hearst Magazines; Rosalind Brewer, president, Southeast operations of Wal-Mart; and Soledad O'Brien, anchor and special correspondent for CNN. The discussion will be moderated by Mary Lou Quinlan, founder and chief executive officer of Just Ask a Woman.

"We are partnering with PINK magazine on this conference because we believe it's an excellent opportunity for area businesswomen to come together and share some of the challenges and opportunities unique to women in corporate America," said Carrie Marcinkevage, Smeal MBA director of admissions. "At Smeal, we are focused on advancing the role of women in business, and this is just one more way we are working to accomplish that."

In addition, the college is developing its own conference on women leaders to be held in the spring 2008 semester. Powerful Women Paving the Way: Penn State Celebrates Women in Business will bring some of Smeal's most successful alumnae back to campus to share some of their career and life experiences with current students.

Among other opportunities for women at Smeal is the college's chapter of the National Association of Women MBAs, an organization dedicated to enhancing the personal and professional development of graduate business women and promoting professional and social networking opportunities.

"We take seriously our responsibility to develop effective women leaders, and I believe the college's track record speaks for itself," said Jake Ray, managing director of the Smeal Executive MBA Program. "Smeal's vast alumni network includes some of the most successful women in business, and we provide many opportunities for our current students to interact with and learn from these and other women leaders."

Among the college's more notable alumnae are Joan Amble, executive vice president and corporate comptroller for American Express; Pat Woertz, chair, chief executive officer, and president of Archer Daniels Midland; and Lizabeth Zlatkus, president of International Wealth Management and Group Benefits for Hartford Life, Inc.
