Dean Thomas, Nittany Lion Fund Managers To Visit New York For Wall Street Initiative

The Smeal College of Business is holding its fall 2007 Wall Street Initiative event next week in New York City. Smeal Dean James Thomas will be joined by Penn State Provost Rodney Erickson, alumnus J. David Rogers '78, '80 M.B.A., and several student managers of the Nittany Lion Fund.

Dean Thomas, Nittany Lion Fund Managers To Visit New York For Wall Street Initiative

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (November 1, 2007) – The Smeal College of Business is holding its fall 2007 Wall Street Initiative event next week in New York City. Smeal Dean James Thomas will be joined by Penn State Provost Rodney Erickson, alumnus J. David Rogers '78, '80 M.B.A., and several student managers of the Nittany Lion Fund.

After introductory remarks by Erickson, Thomas will share his vision for the future of Smeal and discuss the initiatives underway, and in development, to make the college one of the top five public business schools in the nation.

Rogers, chief executive officer of J. D. Capital Management, will talk about the history of Smeal's Trading Room and the important role it plays in preparing students for a career on Wall Street.

Several mangers of the Nittany Lion Fund, Smeal's $5 million student-managed investment portfolio, will also be on hand to discuss the fund's performance and investment strategies.

Since 1999, the Wall Street Initiative has been connecting Penn State alumni who work on Wall Street with the goal of strengthening corporate relationships with the University, providing networking opportunities for alumni, and assisting students in pursuit of careers in New York’s financial district.

The fall 2007 event begins at 6 p.m. on Nov. 6 at The Princeton Club at 15 West 43rd Street. It’s open to all alumni and friends of Penn State who want to connect with fellow alumni and learn about the latest developments at Smeal.
