Penn State's Smeal College of Business will host information technology managers from 50 U.S. and Canadian business schools at this year's Technology in Business Schools (TBS) Roundtable Conference, held June 13 to 15 in Smeal's Business Building.

Smeal To Host Business School IT Conference

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (May 29, 2007) – Penn State's Smeal College of Business will host information technology managers from 50 U.S. and Canadian business schools at this year's Technology in Business Schools (TBS) Roundtable Conference, held June 13 to 15 in Smeal's Business Building.

The conference is designed to address the specific challenges and opportunities facing IT managers in the competitive business education market.

The agenda features leading industry experts presenting on a variety of current issues impacting IT at business schools. Separate panel sessions will further examine the topics raised by the speakers.

Areas covered will range from leveraging technology as a competitive advantage in the learning and research environment to managing privacy and security in the wake of the growing online social networking trend.

In addition, IT vendors will be showcasing their new products and technologies in the Atrium of the Business Building throughout the conference, and will be presenting the capabilities of their companies' technologies in separate sessions.

The conference also provides networking opportunities for TBS Roundtable members and speakers to discuss the latest trends in academic technology and share best practices.

Speakers include, among others, Kraft Bell, vice president and distinguished analyst, Gartner Research; Rodney J. Petersen, government relations officer and Security Task Force coordinator, Educause; and James Thomas, dean, Smeal College of Business.
