Xerox Awards QMM Program A Third $25,000 Grant
The Xerox Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to Penn State's Quality and Manufacturing Management Program. It's the third time in three years that the foundation has made such a contribution to the program. A portion of each of the Xerox grants is used to recruit talented students into the QMM program as Xerox Fellows. The grants also provide scholarship support to current QMM students to attend the Lean Six Sigma seminar as a capstone to the MMM degree.
Xerox Awards QMM Program A Third $25,000 Grant
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (March 27, 2007) – The Xerox Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to Penn State's Quality and Manufacturing Management (QMM) Program. It's the third time in three years that the foundation has made such a contribution to the program.
The QMM program—administered jointly between the College of Engineering and the Smeal College of Business—integrates business, leadership, communication management, technology, and engineering into a two-semester master's degree curriculum, conferring on its graduates the Master of Manufacturing Management (MMM).
A portion of each of the Xerox grants is used to recruit talented students into the QMM program as Xerox Fellows. The grants also provide scholarship support to current QMM students to attend the Lean Six Sigma seminar as a capstone to the MMM degree.
"The Xerox Foundation's continual support of the QMM program has proved invaluable to the program's success in providing our students with unique skills and knowledge in business, innovation, and manufacturing," said Russell Barton, co-director of the QMM program. "Our graduates are extremely valuable to the companies that hire them, and the investment by Xerox is evidence of that."

By drawing upon the knowledge of an advisory board of industry experts and the expertise of the faculty, the QMM program offers its students the chance to learn about real-world manufacturing issues, as well as the latest research and theory related to process improvement.
