Ray Joins Smeal Executive MBA Staff
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (March 29, 2006)—Jake Ray has joined Penn State's Smeal College of Business as director of corporate relations for the Smeal Executive MBA Program.
In this position, Ray will work directly with Executive MBA students, sponsors, and potential business partners to grow and develop the program.
The new appointment is a return to Smeal for Ray, who himself is a graduate of the college's Executive MBA Program, having earned his MBA in 2004. He also holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Penn State.
Prior to joining Smeal, Ray spent the last 11 years in sales and marketing for Pyramid Mouldings, a division of the $4 billion Thyssen-Bornemisza Group. He most recently led a hands-on turnaround of Pyramid after it was acquired by Eastport Operating Partners, a $100 million fund formed to purchase privately held basic industries companies in the United States.
"Jake's professional background will serve our students and sponsoring firms well as he works with them one on one to add even more value to the Executive MBA Program," said Dennis Sheehan, Smeal associate dean of MBA programs. "And the fact that he's a graduate of the program gives him unique insight, allowing him to relate first hand to the needs of our students."
The Smeal Executive MBA Program has operated out of Philadelphia since 2002. The program brings Smeal's internationally ranked University Park MBA to Philadelphia, allowing area professionals the opportunity to earn an MBA and advance their careers without the interruption of a full time program.
