Penn State Continues Spring Distinguished Speaker Series On E-Business

The Penn State eBusiness Research Center is welcoming two industry leaders to its Spring 2001 Distinguished Speaker Series.

Karim Issa, Manager of SAP's B2B Marketplaces - Business Development Group, will discuss "e-Business and Marketplaces," from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5, in 102 Forum Building. Issa will discuss the current trends found in marketplaces, the future of marketplaces, the competitive landscape, and marketplace success factors.

Terry Madonia, AT&T Wireless Services' Vice President of Business Marketing and e-Business Strategy, will discuss, "Driving to Net Readiness," from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, in 104 Keller Auditorium. This presentation will address AT&T Wireless's strategic direction, priorities, and current assessment of its e-business capabilities. She will also review the costs associated with executing this strategy and the projected benefits.

Both presentations are free and open to the public. The speaker series is dedicated to exploring how the Internet is changing business theory and practice.

"Because the Internet is impacting so many different parts of the business world, our Distinguished Speaker Series on e-Business has become a forum for researchers to meet and discuss recent developments and their impact on both what we research and how we do our research," says Nirmal Pal, Executive Director of the eBusiness Research Center.

Each semester, the eBRC invites speakers from a variety of perspectives and disciplines with the intent that they will help the audience understand the important research questions and issues that relate to the Internet. eBRC-a joint effort of the School of Information Sciences and Technology and the Smeal College of Business Administration--promotes research by academics and practitioners on various aspects of e-business, with emphasis on governance and execution issues. The primary mission of eBRC is to foster, expand, and disseminate theoretical, empirical and applied research in e-business and to bring research insights to its supporting members and help them with e-business practice.
