Robert Voigt, professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering, has been named co-director of the Quality and Manufacturing Management (QMM) Program.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (July 23, 2008) – Robert Voigt, professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering, has been named co-director of the Quality and Manufacturing Management (QMM) Program.
The QMM program, administered jointly between the Smeal College of Business and the College of Engineering, integrates business, leadership, communication management, technology, and engineering into a two-semester master's degree curriculum, conferring on its graduates the Master of Manufacturing Management.
Voigt has been a member of the Penn State faculty since 1990.
His research interests include manufacturing process control and improvement, processing of engineering alloys, and the development of environmentally sound manufacturing processes.
A fellow of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Voigt has received numerous awards and honors, including the Penn State Engineering Society's (PSES) Outstanding Teaching, Advising, and Research Awards as well as the PSES Premier Teaching Award; the American Society for Engineering Education Dow Outstanding Young Faculty Award; and the Society of Automotive Engineers Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, and a Master of Science degree and a doctoral degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
