The Financial Times today published its annual list of the top 100 MBA programs in the world and Penn State's Smeal College of Business received its highest ranking since 2000.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (January 30, 2006)—The Financial Times today published its annual list of the top 100 MBA programs in the world and Penn State's Smeal College of Business received its highest ranking since 2000.
The British financial daily ranked the Smeal MBA Program 42nd in the world, up from 55th last year.
Overall, Smeal is ranked 25th in the United States (34th last year) and 10th among U.S. public universities (11th last year).
"This ranking is especially important to us because it is based primarily on the opinions of our graduates," says Smeal interim dean Ken Lusht. "The message is that we are providing our MBA students with the tools and experiences they need to compete effectively in today's global economy."
The newspaper also ranked Smeal 32nd internationally this year in both the placement success of its graduates (27th among U.S. schools) and faculty research published in academic and practitioner journals (28th among U.S. schools).
The 2006 Financial Times rankings are based on surveys completed by alumni who graduated in 2002 and on information provided by the schools. Each school is judged on the alumni's career development and salary purchasing power, the diversity of the school and its MBA program, and its research capabilities.
