Penn State Names Treviño Distinguished Professor Of Ethics And Organizational Behavior
Linda Treviño, Franklin H. Cook Fellow in Business Ethics at Penn State's Smeal College of Business, has been named a Distinguished Professor by the University, effective July 1, 2008, for her record of service to Smeal in both teaching and research.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (February 6, 2008) – Linda Treviño, Franklin H. Cook Fellow in Business Ethics at Penn State's Smeal College of Business, has been named a Distinguished Professor by the University for her record of service to Smeal in both teaching and research. Effective July 1, 2008, her title will be Distinguished Professor of Ethics and Organizational Behavior.
Distinguished Professorships are awarded annually by Penn State to select faculty members who have been nominated by their college for outstanding academic contributions.
Treviño, who joined the Smeal faculty in 1987, directs the college's Shoemaker Program in Business Ethics and is a professor of organizational behavior. She is an expert in the management of ethical conduct in organizations and has published more than 60 journal articles.
She is co-author of the textbook Managing Business Ethics; Straight Talk about How to Do It Right, which is being used to teach undergraduates, MBAs, and executives in the United States and abroad, and is in its fourth edition. Another co-authored book, Managing Ethics in Business Organizations; Social Scientific Perspectives, was published in 2003 by Stanford University Press.
Treviño has taught undergraduates, MBA students, executive MBA students, Ph.D. candidates, and executives. She has also consulted with for-profit and nonprofit organizations, and has led research projects for the Ethics Resource Center Fellows Program, where she is chair of the Invited Academic Fellows.
She is also associate editor of the Academy of Management Review, the leading conceptual journal in management; incoming chair of the Social Issues in Management Division of the Academy of Management; and a fellow of the Academy of Management.
Treviño's recent research includes work on ethical leadership, values-based leadership, voice in organizations, and moral disengagement processes. She also studies academic integrity issues including the impact of honor codes on college students' cheating behavior and has been instrumental in the implementation of the Smeal Honor Code.
Treviño holds a Ph.D. in management from Texas A&M University.
