Smeal Professor Earns Honor At National Entrepreneurship Conference
Robert Macy, clinical assistant professor of entrepreneurship at Penn State's Smeal College of Business, was part of a team honored with one of two 2008 Outstanding Workshop Awards for their presentation at the national conference of the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), held last month in San Antonio.
Smeal Professor Earns Honor At National Entrepreneurship Conference
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (February 1, 2008) – Robert Macy, clinical assistant professor of entrepreneurship at Penn State's Smeal College of Business, was part of a team honored with one of two 2008 Outstanding Workshop Awards for their presentation at the national conference of the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), held last month in San Antonio.
Macy and several colleagues from the University of Oregon earned the Outstanding Pedagogy Workshop award for their presentation "Active Learning in Entrepreneurship: Applying the Jigsaw Method to Entrepreneurship Instruction."
Sharing in the honor with Macy are Samuel Holloway, Alan James Krause, Ian David Parkman, and Suzanne Gladys Tilleman, all of the University of Oregon.
Macy joined the Smeal faculty in July 2006 upon earning his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. His research focuses mainly on the strategic management of intellectual capital and the use of knowledge and knowledge workers to facilitate innovation.
He has been an entrepreneur for more than 20 years and is member of the Oregon State Bar. As an attorney, Macy's practice focused on new ventures and business transactions from initial development through exit.
In addition to his Ph.D., he holds an M.B.A. and J.D. from the University of Oregon and a bachelor's degree from Washington State University.
USASBE, the U.S. affiliate of the International Council for Small Business, is an organization of government officials, directors of small business development centers, and academics whose goal is to impact government policy and the increase development of small business and entrepreneurship.
