Kumar will serve an initial two-year appointment on the journal's editorial board. As an associate editor, he will review submitted manuscripts and help to ensure a flow of high-quality submissions to the journal.
Kumar joined the Smeal faculty in June 2002 after previously serving on the faculties of Cornell University and the University of Colorado. He coauthored the best paper award winning paper at the INFORMS Conference on Information Systems and Technology in November 2001.
He serves on the editorial boards of the INFORMS Journal on Computing and the Information and Technology Management Journal, having just completed his term as associate editor for Information Systems Research. He has been a principal investigator and review panelist for the National Science Foundation, and also received support from IBM, Sun Microsystems, and other organizations for his work. He served as co-chair for the 17th Workshop on Information Technology and Systems, held recently in Montreal.
