New Accounting Advisory Board Chair Announced
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (February 6, 2008) – Smeal College of Business alumna Tara Weiner '76 takes over as chair of the college's Accounting Advisory Board for Anthony Dolanski '68, who has served as chair for the past two years.
Dolanski, chief financial officer of Internet Capital Group, has remained connected to Smeal's Accounting Department since earning his degree. He has served on the Accounting Advisory Board since its inception in 2001, and has led the board in promoting several important initiatives, including, most recently, the proposed MAcc Program.
Weiner, who has served on the Accounting Advisory Board for two years, is the managing partner of the Philadelphia office of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP.
Weiner previously served as the national managing partner of the organization's consumer business industry practice. In her current role, she leads Deloitte's more than 1,600 employees in the greater Philadelphia area.
With more than 30 years of proven experience, Weiner has a distinguished record of service as a strategic adviser, helping companies create measurable value and dealing with issues of importance to their businesses. Weiner currently serves as an advisory or leadership partner to several of the Deloitte U.S Firms leading clients, wherein she leverages her SEC and regulatory expertise, in addition to an in-depth knowledge of the accounting standard-setting process.
Beyond her impressive professional credentials, Weiner brings to her new role as chair an enterprising spirit and a passion for promoting accounting education, according to Dan Givoly, chair of Smeal's Department of Accounting.
The Accounting Advisory Board advises and otherwise works with Smeal's Department of Accounting in a number of different ways. The Board is made up of accounting, business, education, and government professionals who have an interest in promoting accounting education at Penn State, and in furthering the development and practice of accounting in all its applications.
