UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (February 24, 2005)—Chris Muscarella, professor of finance and MBA faculty director at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business, has been elected to a one-year term as president of the Financial Management Association International (FMA).

Established in 1970, FMA develops and disseminates knowledge about financial decision-making to a membership community that includes more than 3,300 academics and practitioners and more than 4,000 students around the world.

FMA strives to broaden the common interests between its members, provide opportunities for professional interaction, promote the development and understanding of basic and applied research and of sound financial practice, and enhance the quality of education in finance. The association's web site is www.fma.org.

Muscarella’s teaching interests center on corporate finance and he has won multiple excellence-in-teaching awards at Smeal. His current research interests include underpricing of initial public offerings, corporate control and limited partnerships, and the value of patents.
