Gift Benefits Minority Students In Smeal College
A recent gift of $10,000 will benefit minority students interested in pursing or completing degrees in business at Penn State.
The Verizon Foundation-formerly GTE/Bell Atlantic-recently contributed $10,000 for the Minority Business Program in Penn State's Smeal College of Business Administration. The gift was given on behalf of Verizon and all its domestic subsidiaries and reflects its continued support for the Minority Business Program and to encourage more minority students to pursue and complete degrees in business.
The Smeal College Minority Business Program supports the recruitment and retention of minority MBA students through MBA Forums, publications, Diversity Appreciation Weekend, and student attendance at professional conferences.
The Verizon Foundation was launched on July 3, 2000 to serve the nonprofit community on behalf of Verizon Communications. The new Verizon Foundation will invest $70 million in support of the communities it serves, making Verizon one of the top ten largest corporate foundations in the United States.
