New Faculty Join Smeal
In July 2006, Dean James Thomas joined the Smeal College of Business. Thomas was dean of the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State since its inception in 1999. He is a specialist in strategic management, organizational decision-making, and information technology. Previously, Thomas served on Smeal's faculty for twelve years, culminating in appointments as senior associate dean and professor of management and organization. He is the author/co-author of more than 100 articles, book chapters, reviews and numerous presentations on information sciences education before scholarly, industry, and government groups including the U.S. Congress.
U.S. News Ranks Smeal Among Top Ten Public Business Programs
Penn State's Smeal College of Business is ranked 18th overall and 10th among public universities in this year's U.S. News & World Report rankings of undergraduate business programs, which was released today.
Dean Thomas Hosts Chicago-Area Alumni On Lake Michigan
Several friends and alumni of Penn State's Smeal College of Business joined Dean James Thomas in Chicago last week for a yacht excursion on Lake Michigan. The event was designed to give Chicago-area alumni an opportunity to meet with and get to know Smeal's new dean in a casual and fun environment.
Smeal Alumnus Addresses National Accounting Fraternity
Smeal College of Business alumnus Anthony Buzzelli '71 served as keynote speaker in early August for the annual meeting of Beta Alpha Psi, a national fraternity for accounting and finance students. Buzzelli, national managing partner, U.S. Regions & Markets, Deloitte & Touche, stressed the importance of community involvement to the more than 1,000 students gathered in Washington.
Bestselling Author Addresses EMBA, MBA Students
More than 75 students enrolled in the Penn State Smeal College of Business Executive MBA Program in Philadelphia traveled to State College to have lunch with Keith Ferrazzi, bestselling author of Never Eat Alone and CEO of Ferrazzi Greenlight Inc.
Smeal To Host Executive Coaching Skills And Certification Programs
Penn State Executive Programs, a division of the Smeal College of Business, has added two new executive education programs to its list of 2006-2007 offerings, both of which rely on published experts to teach executive coaching skills to managers and executives.
Center for Supply Chain Research Honored With Logistics Award
The Center for Supply Chain Research at Penn State's Smeal College of Business has been named the 2006 institutional recipient of the Eccles Medal by the Executive Board of Directors of the International Society of Logistics.
