Deloitte CEO Kicks Off Executive Insights Guest Speaker Series

Penn State's Smeal College of Business will welcome Barry Salzberg, chief executive officer of Deloitte LLP, to campus on Oct. 2 as the first speaker in this year's Leadership in Focus: Executive Insights guest speaker program. Salzberg will join Smeal Dean James B. Thomas for an interactive on-stage conversation at 11:15 a.m. in the Business Building's Struthers Auditorium. The talk is open to the public.

Five Join Smeal Faculty

Penn State's Smeal College of Business has added five members to its faculty at the start of the 2009-2010 academic year: Edward E. Babcock, instructor in accounting, Richard J. Button, assistant director of the Institute for Real Estate Studies and instructor in insurance and real estate, Jaewon Choi, assistant professor of finance, Brian S. Davis, clinical assistant professor of finance, Rachel Graefe-Anderson, visiting assistant professor of finance, and Jiro Yoshida, assistant professor of business.

"Nothing beats a great presentation, filled with energy, useful information and graphic interest," writes Patrick Cataldo, associate dean for executive education. "The new presentational technologies are great if you know how to make the most of their capabilities."

Smeal Student Earns Working Role at MTV Video Music Awards

On Sept. 1, one day before her 22nd birthday, Lauren Mitsch, a Penn State senior majoring in advertising and marketing, found out her summer internship at Nickelodeon had produced an unexpected reward—an all-expenses-paid trip to the annual MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday in New York City.
