Jeffrey A. Malehorn '82, president and chief executive officer of GE Healthcare Financial Services, will deliver the keynote address at this year's Smeal MBA Pre-commencement Celebratory Ceremony on May 13 recognizing the MBA class of 2007. This year's ceremony, the 47th annual celebration, begins at 1 p.m. in the Atrium of Smeal's Business Building. Smeal Alumnus To Address Graduating MBA StudentsUNIVERSITY PARK, PA (May 8, 2007) – Jeffrey A. Malehorn '82, president and chief executive officer of GE Healthcare Financial Services, will deliver the keynote address at this year's Smeal MBA Pre-commencement Celebratory Ceremony on May 13 recognizing the MBA class of 2007. The ceremony is an occasion for Smeal's 64 graduating MBA students and their friends and families to celebrate their accomplishments prior to the Graduate School commencement on May 20. This year's pre-commencement ceremony, the 47th annual celebration, begins at 1 p.m. in the Atrium of Smeal's Business Building. Before assuming his role at GE Healthcare Financial Services in August 2004, Malehorn was president and CEO of GE Commercial Finance's Global Financial Restructuring business based primarily in Tokyo, Japan, where he helped drive global business growth across Asia, Europe, and the United States. Throughout his 23-year career at GE, he has held numerous leadership positions, including as head of GE Real Estate’s European business for three years based in Paris, France. He has also managed GE Real Estate's U.S. debt and equity originations, and the senior living, hospitality, and related operations-based ventures. He has held positions in risk, portfolio, and operations management, as well as in business development and process improvement. Malehorn is GE's corporate citizenship leader for Chicago, a board member for Junior Achievement of Chicago, campaign cabinet member for the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, co-chair for the Building with Books Partnership for Hope 2006 program, and co-chair for the American Heart Association's 2007 Annual Ball. He started his career at GE in the Financial Management Program in 1984 after graduating from Smeal with a bachelor's degree in finance.
