Smeal Professor Earns National Teaching HonorThe United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), the U.S. affiliate of the International Council for Small Business, has honored a Smeal College of Business entrepreneurship professor with a major teaching award. Smeal Professor Earns National Teaching HonorUNIVERSITY PARK, PA (February 5, 2007) – The United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), the U.S. affiliate of the International Council for Small Business, has honored a Smeal College of Business entrepreneurship professor with a major teaching award. Robert Macy, clinical assistant professor of entrepreneurship, received the Extraordinary Educator award from the USASBE's Corporate Entrepreneurship Division at the association's national conference last month in Orlando, Fla. Macy was nominated and selected for the award by the officers of the Corporate Entrepreneurship Division of USASBE. Macy joined the Smeal faculty in July 2006 upon earning his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. His research focuses mainly on the strategic management of intellectual capital and the use of knowledge and knowledge workers to facilitate innovation. He has been an entrepreneur for more than 20 years and is member of the Oregon State Bar. As an attorney, Macy's practice focused on new ventures and business transactions from initial development through exit. In addition to his Ph.D., he holds an M.B.A. and J.D. from the University of Oregon and a bachelor's degree from Washington State University. USASBE is an organization of government officials, directors of small business development centers, and academics whose goal is to impact government policy and the increase development of small business and entrepreneurship.
