Senior Supply Chain Student Named 'The Next CEO'

Smeal College of Business student Douglas Burke, a senior majoring in supply chain and information systems, outlasted nine of his classmates on April 21 to win the college's unique executive simulation challenge, The Next CEO. The annual competition requires contestants to play the role of CEO of a global corporation, leading their companies through complex business crises and major international disruptions.

Only a small group of elite property fund managers are able to consistently lead their funds to gains greater than the market, according to new research co-authored by Shaun Bond, a Smeal visiting associate professor of real estate.

Ten Smeal College of Business students will compete Monday in front of an audience of hundreds of their peers, friends, and family members to earn the title of The Next CEO. David M. Otteni, managing director of KPMG's Raleigh, N.C., office, has been named as the 2007-2008 Penn State Outstanding Accounting Alumnus of the Year by the Accounting Department at the Smeal College of Business.

Two Supply Chain Students Receive $5,000 Scholarship Awards

The R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation has awarded two students at Penn State's Smeal College of Business with $5,000 scholarships. Douglas Burke and Andrew Spicher, Smeal students majoring in Supply Chain and Information Systems, have been selected to receive two of the six available 2008 R. Gene Richter Scholarship Awards.

Leading Scholars To Share Research At Third Annual Marketing Research Camp

The Department of Marketing at Penn State's Smeal College of Business will welcome four prominent marketing scholars to the college on April 25 to participate in the department's third annual Marketing Research Camp. It All Starts With Deeper Customer Understanding: A Call To Researchers

Triggered by an original request from Hewlett-Packard in 1999, the Institute for the Study of Business Markets (ISBM) surveys business marketers and B-to-B academic researchers every two years. ISBM asks them to identify the most critical challenges marketers will encounter, the capabilities needed to overcome them, and which firms surfaced as having achieved benchmark performance in the areas identified.

Farrell Center To Host Entrepreneurship Summer Camp

Penn State Outreach and the Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Smeal College of Business are hosting a weeklong summer camp for high school students with an interest in entrepreneurship. The Penn State Entrepreneurship Camp will be held June 22-27 on Penn State's University Park campus.

The 63rd meeting of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum, hosted by Smeal's Center for the Management of Technological and Organizational Change (CMTOC), will be held April 10 and 11 at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel on Penn State's University Park campus.

Jordan Named To Board Of Leading Technology Conference

John Jordan, executive director of the Center for Digital Transformation at Penn State's Smeal College of Business, has been named to the advisory board of DEMO, a leading semiannual technology conference where the newest products in digital technology often debut.
