Demand for Wall Street Analysis Grows

The cumulative performance of Wall Street's recommended stocks over the past decade has been slightly below the performance of the S&P 500, said Randall Woolridge, professor of finance at Pennsylvania State University's Smeal College of Business.

His research to be published in the Journal of Investing found that the few firms that were able to marginally outperform the index did so by avoiding risk and volatility. Says Woolridge: "Avoiding the big losers is the key to success."
