The new president who is to take control of Northampton Community College on Tuesday is married to one of the college's four vice presidents.

But Martin Kilduff, a Penn State management professor, said colleges tend to be more flexible than businesses about this sort of situation.

"There's a dearth of talent in management, and colleges are very loath to lose someone because they happen to be married to a talented spouse," Kilduff said.
