MASTER OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES IN SUPPLY CHAIN

Expanding your capabilities and advancing your career as part of an online program with the nation's No. 1 supply chain institution.

ASTL Certifications

Through a partnership with the American Society of Transportation & Logistics (ASTL), our master’s students can qualify for two ASTL certifications highly valued by the practitioner community. Students who apply for these certifications within six months of graduation will realize substantial savings in membership dues and certification fees. Students apply and pay dues and fees, directly to ASTL. Our master’s program office will, at ASTL’s request, validate applicants’ transcripts. Application details are shown below.

Professional Designation in Supply Chain Management (PLS)

Upon completion of the first three courses in the master’s program (SCM 800, 810 and 820) our students will qualify for award of the Professional Designation in Supply Chain Management (PLS) by the American Society of Transportation & Logistics (ASTL). ASTL confers PLS “to recognize individuals that have completed a course of study examining the strategies for improving logistics and supply chain operations and are seeking to apply this knowledge within their profession.”

To receive PLS certification a Penn State Supply Chain Management Master’s student must become an ASTL member (ASTL will offer a $30 student membership) and pay a $125 examination waiver fee.  Further information may be obtained on the ASTL website or by calling 202-580-7270.

Certification in Transportation and Logistics (CTL)

Upon completion of the Master of Professional Studies in Supply Chain Management program graduates will qualify for award of the Certification in Transportation and Logistics (CTL).  ASTL began awarding this certification in 1948, and it is considered the premier professional certification in the transportation/logistics industry.
