Center for Global Business Studies

Dr. Fariborz Ghadar

Global business is growing at over twice the rate of domestic business. Spawned by this growth are international business issues that embody various regions and disciplines. As global business continues to grow and the economies of the world's nations become increasingly interdependent, the management of the firm will require a global perspective. The Center for Global Business Studies specializes in research concerning emerging functional business issues that shape the global environment. Its mission is to construct a coherent global perspective in business management, research, and education.

In the News: In a recent interview with Voice of America, Fariborz Ghadar, Director of the Center for Global Business Studies, discussed the economic ramifications of our increasingly aging world. "Ignoring the coming changes is risky. Economic growth rates will slow down, jobs will not be available for the young, there is going to be conflict both internally in certain countries, externally."

Alliances with corporations and institutions around the world offer many opportunities, as well as challenges. Businesses and universities working together to educate executives and students can share their knowledge of the most recent business practices, theories, and research. Communication among this broad and international group requires long-distance educational opportunities offered through the use of new technologies. The Center for Global Business Studies is poised to link corporations and Penn State together and deliver programs designed for this diverse audience.

In the latest issue of Inside Supply Management Dr. Fariborz Ghadar, Director of the Center for Global Business Studies, details major tectonic global changes and encourages strategic preparation for a dramatically new business environment. Dr. Ghadar masterfully relates how globalization demands greater efficiencies in production and distribution while continued immigration and aging populations require examining current labor sources and markets. In the next era of global business, building strong supply chain management and information and technology coordination will be essential to ensuring thriving economies.

The Center for Global Business Studies specializes in researching emerging multifunctional business issues that shape the global environment. The Center's mission is to construct a coherent global perspective in business management, research, and education.

Dr. Ghadar was featured in the Huffington Post linking Obama’s Nuclear Deal to the recent mini-revolution in Iran. Without boots on the ground, Obama’s Deal galvanized momentum and ingenuity in the recent elections allowing a peaceful transfer of power from conservative clerics to reformists and moderates. A reformist majority now leads the pivotal The Assembly of Experts responsible for selecting the country’s next Supreme Leader. Though scrutinized on the homefront, Obama's relentless focus on Iran is liberating a democracy-ready nation and repairing a contentious relationship that has troubled the two nations since 1979.
