Internship Process

An internship following the first year is an important part of the Penn State Smeal MBA experience. The internship provides an excellent opportunity to apply what you have learned in the classroom, prove your capabilities, gather knowledge about a company or industry, and augment your previous professional experience.

Smeal provides a user-friendly, efficient internship recruiting process, which includes resume distribution to interested companies, on-line job postings exclusive to Smeal MBA students, networking with former interns and alumni, and on-campus job interviews. These efforts have resulted in over 95 percent of students securing internships in each of the last five years.

The internship provides critical work experience if you are changing career paths and can help validate your decision to pursue a career in a particular industry. In some cases, the internship is used by the employer as an extended interview to determine whether to offer a permanent position following graduation.
