Personal Career Strategy

Crucial to the success of any business venture is a thoughtful and comprehensive business plan. Similarly, your career success is largely dependent on having a thoughtful and comprehensive plan that will detail your career goals and guide you in achieving these goals. As a Penn State Smeal MBA student, you will develop and refine your own Personal Career Strategy (PCS) with the help of the Career Services Team.

In addition to defining, clarifying, and refining your goals, you will analyze your career goals in the context of the job market as well as your personal strengths and weaknesses. You will develop a gap analysis so you know what it will take to get you where you want to go. And then, you will develop a plan of action to get you there. As you do this, you will have one-on-one coaching from members of the Career Services Team, as well as from your MBA Alumni Advisory Board mentor.

During your time in the Program, you will complete your PCS; but you will never finalize it. Like all good business plans, it will change over time in response to changes in your personal objectives as well as changes in the marketplace. This tool and training will help launch your post-MBA career and keep it on a steep trajectory for the rest of your professional life.
