Management and Organization
The Management and Organization Department at the Penn State Smeal College of Business is preparing future leaders to respond to challenges associated with creating a successful business in today's global economy while shaping management knowledge and practices for the twenty-first century.
The department provides degree programs for Smeal students at all levels, including two undergraduate majors in Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Management. Concentrations in strategic leadership and innovation are available through the full-time, resident Smeal MBA Program, and the Smeal Executive MBA Program features coursework in management and leadership. At the doctoral level, an emphasis in Management and Organization is available through the Smeal Ph.D. Program.
Faculty and Research
Management Department faculty are at the leading edge of research and practices that address modern business challenges, including new organizational design such as self-managing teams and multi-firm collaborative networks. Faculty are also exploring creative ways of thinking about a firm's strategies and management processes that involve new methods of performance management, talent management, and ethical leadership.
The department ranks in the top 10 for research productivity worldwide, and faculty members are current and former Associate Editors and the Academy of Management Journal and Academy Management Review, the two highest impact journals in the management field.
