Purpose

To increase the number and quality of scholars studying business-to-business markets and marketing by informing Ph.D. students about the area early in their studies and continuing to serve their domain needs along all stages of the dissertation process.

Target Audience

Ph.D. students at any stage of matriculation who are interested in research in business-to-business markets. While Marketing Ph.D. students are the primary target, students in related areas such as Strategy, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management and Logistics, and Management also are welcome.

Student Benefit

To develop a better understanding of the barriers and rewards involved in pursuing a Ph.D. in business-to-business markets. To provide students with connections to potential mentors, committee members, peers, and future coauthors.

Venue and Timing

Washington, D.C. at Georgetown University’s “Car Barn” – their MBA teaching facility on Thursday (August 2) and Friday (August 3) prior to the AMA Summer Marketing Educators’ Conference.

The AMA Summer Educator’s Conference is being held at the Hilton Washington (1919 Connecticut Ave. NW, approx two miles from the Car Barn). To stay at the AMA conference hotel, call the Hilton at 800-445-8667, and ask for the AMA Summer Educator rate, which is $ 172/night. Guest rooms are not being held by the ISBM. If you are interested in other accommodations, the Georgetown Marriott (3800 Reservoir Rd NW) 202-687-3200 and The Georgetown Inn (1310 Wisconsin Ave. NW) 888-876-0001 are located near campus, but lower rates may be available at www.hotels.com, www.expedia.com, or www.travelocity.com.

The Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) http://otm.georgetown.edu/guts/ operates five shuttle routes, connecting the campus to the Georgetown University Law Center on Capitol Hill, to University offices on Wisconsin Avenue, to Metro stations at Rosslyn (Virginia) and Dupont Circle (District of Columbia) and two stops in North Arlington, Virginia.

Visitors and persons doing business on campus may ride free of charge and must show a picture ID at the time of boarding. Buses with handicapped access are available on all GUTS routes. Contact OTM at 202-687-4372 for further assistance.

GUTS buses depart and arrive at the Leavey Center in the heart of Georgetown University's campus. Buses operate between 5:00 a.m. and midnight.
