Purpose:

To increase the number of scholars studying business-to-business markets and marketing by informing Ph.D. students about the area early in their studies and providing them with contacts to potential mentors and committee members.

Target Audience:

Marketing Ph.D. students at the end of their 2nd and 3rd years of training (Ph.D. students in related areas such as Strategy, Supply Chain Management and Logistics, and Management Science are also welcome).

Student Benefit:

To develop a better understanding of the state of the art in B-to-B research, to receive peer and professional feedback on a proposed research problem, to provide peer feedback to other students' proposed research problems, and to learn about ISBM's new online Ph.D. Seminar Series.

Venue and Timing:

Wednesday evening (Aug 2) at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers, 301 East North Water Street, Chicago and Thursday morning (Aug 3), at the Kellogg Conference Center - Northwestern University, prior to the ISBM - Bi Annual Academic Conference: Thinking Big, Thinking Different: Contributions and Challenges in B-to-B Research.

E-mail a copy of your vita, along with a one-to-two page proposal for a Business-to-Business research problem that you might want to investigate in the future, to Professor Abbie Griffin at abbieg@uiuc.edu before May 15, 2006 . If accepted, you will be required to expand your research problem to a five-page proposal. The proposal should be outlined sufficiently (albeit succinctly) in both base theory as well as potential methods that a group of students and professional peers can provide constructive feedback at the mini-camp.
