Welcome to the Department of Finance at the Smeal College of Business.

Enjoy using our web pages and learning more about our programs, academic activities and faculty. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. At the graduate level, we offer the degree of Ph.D. in Finance. The Department also actively supports the Smeal MBA Program with a number of elective courses offering career concentrations in the areas of corporate finance, investments and financial services. The Department consists of 16 full-time faculty; all carrying on active research and teaching programs, keeping them at the cutting edge of finance theory and practice. The faculty provide research and teaching expertise in a variety of areas which collectively emphasize corporate finance, international finance, investment management, and financial services. The department places a heavy emphasis on the relevance of its programs and in the quality of instruction. Several faculty have received recognition for teaching excellence. The Department has built an international reputation for financial research, especially in the areas of corporate financial policy and the operation and regulation of securities markets. Many of our faculty have published the results of their work in the leading journals in finance, and have earned international recognition from academic and professional organizations for their contributions to the field. Several faculty serve or have served on the editorial boards of major journals in finance.
