The Rogers Trading Room Challenge
Established in 2001 with a generous gift from David Rogers ’78 and
Patricia Maloney Rogers ’79, the Rogers Family Trading Room offers Smeal College students unique opportunities for hands-on stock trading and other investment management experiences. Today, the Rogers family is challenging Penn State alumni and friends to join them in supporting this state-of-the-art-facility. They have offered to match gifts made to the Smeal College Trading Room Endowment dollar-for-dollar, up to $1 million, with the goal of adding $2 million to the endowment.
Equipped with real-time stock tickers, advanced trading software, and integrated video conferencing capabilities, thousands of finance students as well as those from other majors, faculty, and alumni have benefitted from this unique learning resource. When its doors opened, the Rogers Family Trading Room was one of the first facilities of its kind in higher education. It quickly became a highly used laboratory and classroom and a must-see destination for visitors to campus.
The Rogers Challenge began in December 2011 and continues through December 31, 2013. All gifts must be made to the Smeal College Trading Room Endowment in order to qualify for the match. To make a gift toward the Rogers Challenge for the Trading Room, contact Todd Sloan, Director of Development, or give online.
