Dr. Robert Novack, associate professor, Supply Chain & Information Sytems, and faculty director of the R. Hadly Waters Supply Chain Symposium, and Pamela Erb, vice president of Supply Chain, Wegmans Food Markets, Inc.
Pamela Erb, the vice president of Supply Chain for Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., received the 2014 Pashek Award at the 24th Annual R. Hadly Waters Supply Chain Symposium held on April 24th at University Park, Pennsylvania.
The Robert D. Pashek Award is given annually to a logistics professional that has made significant contributions to the practice and development of the logistics and transportation disciplines. The award is named for the late Robert D. Pashek, associate dean emeritus of The Smeal College and a man instrumental in the development of logistics studies at Penn State.
Erb began her career at Wegmans in 1987, working in store operations and then transitioning to human resources where she spent six years in a variety of HR roles. In 1998 Erb began her time in distribution with a role in DC operations where she has been instrumental in the areas of network planning, transportation and now supply chain.
The annual R. Hadly Waters Supply Chain Symposium provides a platform for practitioners and educators to share knowledge on topics such as integrating supply chain processes and technology, agility in international logistics, supply chain transformation, and the future of supply chain management. This year's symposium theme, Innovative Logistics - The Supply Chain Strategy Enabler, went back to Dr. R. Hadly Waters (1908-1988) roots of logistics. Waters was one of the contributing pioneers spearheading the currently named Supply Chain and Information Systems major in The Smeal College of Business and a dedicated proponent of professionalism in transportation and logistics.
