Steroids in Baseball: Where is the Public Interest?

Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams, writers for the San Francisco Chronicle and co-authors of the New York Times' best-selling book "Game of Shadows," joined Penn State Professors Scott Kretchmar, an expert on sports philosophy and ethics, and Charles Yesalis an expert on health effects of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs, in a roundtable discussion about how the steroids controversy developed, including through sports media coverage of Barry Bonds and others, the legal and governance issues, as well as the ethical and medical implications surrounding this issue.

Stephen Ross, professor of law and director of the Penn State Institute for Sports Law and Policy, moderated the discussion, which was co-sponsored by the Center for Sports Business & Research, the Penn State Institute for Sports Law, Policy, and Research, and the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.
