Ken Hershman is president, HBO Sports, for Home Box Office, responsible for the strategic direction and overseeing of the HBO Sports division. This includes the renowned and groundbreaking boxing franchises World Championship Boxing®, Boxing After Dark® and HBO-Pay-Per-View®, as well as compelling programs like the Emmy®-winning journalism series Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, the Peabody Award-winning Legends & Legacies documentaries, and the acclaimed sports reality shows Hard Knocks and 24/7. He was named to this position in January 2012.
A veteran sports television executive regarded in the sports television community as a proven innovator, Hershman comes to HBO from Showtime, where he was executive vice president & general manager, Sports & Event Programming, since October 2003. He began his career at Showtime in 1992 as counsel, Showtime Networks Inc. and moved into a senior programming role in Sports and Events in January 2001. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president, associate general counsel for Showtime Networks Inc., a position he held since February 1997.
Hershman is a graduate of the Fordham University School of Law, where he was a member of the International Law Journal and received his BA degree with distinction from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
