After serving the club as senior vice president and chief financial officer since July of 2005, Jim Plake was promoted to his current position on December 4, 2006. Previously, Plake was the vice president of finance and administration, beginning in August of 1995. He joined the Pirates in November of 1991 as director of finance.

In his current role, Plake directs the daily financial and administrative operations for the Pirates, including financial reporting, budgets, payroll, treasury, human resources, information systems, and insurance. In addition, Plake also directs and oversees projects that affect all aspects of the club’s business operations.

Prior to joining the Pirates, he was a senior manager with the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse where he was responsible for the audit engagements of both Fortune 500 and middle-market companies.
