New Business Building—Building a Community

The Smeal College's new 210,000 square foot building is the largest academic facility at Penn State. Designed by Robert A.M. Stern—dean of the Yale School of Architecture—it is a signature building that welcomes all Penn State visitors to the eastern gateway of campus.

A Home for Smeal Students

This building is the "home away from home" for all of our students, and we have designed and built it with their comfort in mind. Amenities for our students include:

  • State-of-the-art classrooms
  • Numerous laboratories for learning and research, including the Smeal Trading Room
  • Interview rooms for internships and permanent placement
  • Video-conferencing facilities for interviewing and research
  • Wireless internet access throughout the building
  • Club offices for student organizations

  • Lockers for MBA students

  • Blue Chip Bistro Café

Designed for Research

This building is designed to foster lifelong connections and reinforce the strength of the Smeal community. All faculty departments, research centers, program offices, advisors, and staff are co-located. Faculty and staff, students, alumni and business visitors come together in the expansive spaces of the atriums, open stairwells, lounges, café, and outdoor plaza.
