Smeal Outstanding Volunteer Award Guidelines

Number of Awards
One award is given each year, assuming the nominee is approved by the selection committee.

Eligibility
Smeal graduates who are not current At-Large Directors and Ex-Officio Directors of the Smeal Alumni Society Board.

Criteria
Honors alumni who serve as a volunteer with the Smeal Alumni Society Board and attend the board meetings with minimum absences, maintain involvement with his or her task force in between board meetings, offer new ideas to their task force, and volunteer to assist the college in other capacities such as mentoring and recruiting.

Nominations
Nominations are solicited from Smeal faculty, staff, student organizations, and current Smeal Alumni Society Board At-Large Directors and Ex-Officio Directors.

Selecting Body

The selection committee includes, but is not limited to, the Smeal Alumni Society Board’s Awards task force, Executive Committee, and Smeal’s Director of Alumni Relations.

Timeline
Nomination materials are sent via e-mail to the faculty and staff list serve; to the Manager of Student Organizations to distribute to undergraduate student groups; to the MBA Student Services Director to distribute to MBA student groups; to the Director of Ph.D. Programs to distribute to Ph.D. students; and to the Smeal Alumni Society Board members. Nominations are typically sought in mid September and due in early November.  The award is presented to the recipient in a formal ceremony during the annual Smeal Alumni Society Board’s Awards program.
