Research with Impact

Research with impact is represented in academic work and publications that generate discovery.

Research with Impact

Research with impact is represented in academic work and publications that generate discovery of new ways to look at the familiar, identify phenomenon that has previously gone unnoticed, articulate uncharted territory, and clarify an interesting, unresolved, or inadequately addressed issue in and across disciplines. Smeal’s role is to support and encourage such research efforts with the ongoing goal of conducting research that will make a difference in the academy and in society.

Priorities and Initiatives

  • Expand endowed chairs and professorships to cover all productive tenured research active faculty members.

  • Increase existing research endowments that currently provide only modest support.

  • Appoint a committee to review faculty members on a rotating basis to determine research activity.

  • Implement greater variance in merit pay raises based on research performance.

  • Increase doctoral support to be a competitive distinction among top business schools.
