Dialogue with Society

Dialogue with society promotes the diffusion of knowledge, the exchange of ideas, and attention to outreach at the local, national, and international levels. Developing such a dialogue includes engaging the college in the global marketplace through an enhanced sensitivity and understanding of other cultures. While units and programs such as research centers, executive education, study abroad, and speakers’ series are at the heart of such a dialogue, the soul of our interaction with society will come from the talents and engagement of our faculty.

Priorities and Initiatives

• Encourage faculty to submit research to publications that impact practitioners.
• Increase globalization through partnerships with regional universities and create a Smeal International Council.
• Focus on information technology support through innovation, IT simplification, governance, and communication.
• Create and revise units such as a sustainability focused research center, Center for Sports Business & Research, and Penn State Executive Programs.
