Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Accounting at Penn State
Department of Accounting

The Department of Accounting of The Pennsylvania State University (University Park) seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position in accounting at any rank beginning in Fall 2013.

Job Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or be in the final stages of their dissertation), demonstrate interest in and capacity to conduct quality scholarly research, and a high level of teaching competence in accounting, auditing, or taxation.

Candidates for the Associate or Full Professor position should have an excellent record of research publications, as well as involvement in doctoral education, and undergraduate and graduate curriculum development.

Faculty members are expected to pursue an active research program, perform undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervise graduate students, and engage in service activities.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Finance
Department of Finance

The Department of Finance of the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Finance. Rank is open.

Job Description/Qualifications

This position is a tenure-track appointment with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. levels. Candidates must have a PhD or DBA in finance or related field, or expect to complete all requirements during the current academic year. Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to conduct quality research and publish in the top journals in the field. The ability to contribute quality teaching should also be evidenced. Rank will depend on the record of research and teaching accomplishments.

Tenure-Track Faculty Position
Department of Marketing

The Marketing Department in the Smeal College of Business, Penn State University (University Park, PA), is looking to fill one tenure-track faculty position beginning in Fall 2013. 

Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. or be in the final stages of their dissertation and demonstrate a willingness and capacity to conduct high quality scholarly research as well as teaching competence. We are particularly interested in candidates with several years of academic experience. Faculty members are expected to pursue an active research program, perform undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervise doctoral students, and engage in service activities.  Faculty rank is open depending on qualifications. Preference would be given to candidates with research interest in managerial issues, particularly in business markets.

Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Strategic Management
Department of Management and Organization


The Management and Organization Department in the Smeal College of Business at Penn State has a full-time, tenure-track position open at the assistant or associate rank in the area of Strategic Management. An emphasis on Entrepreneurship or Innovation as a focal research/teaching domain would be especially desirable, although applications from candidates not specializing in entrepreneurship or innovation will be considered.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or be in the final stages of dissertation work), demonstrate an interest in and a capacity to conduct high-quality scholarly research, as well as a high level of teaching competence in Strategic Management. Candidates for an assistant professor position should demonstrate strong research potential, preferably with an early-career record of publication(s)/acceptance(s). Candidates for an associate professor position should have an excellent record of research publications, as well as a record of involvement in doctoral education.

We expect faculty members to pursue an active research program, perform undergraduate and graduate teaching, supervise graduate students, and engage in service activities. We have a strong preference for candidates with publications in premier journals, who have high-impact research programs underway, and who are able to connect with a wide array of colleagues in our department.

Assistant Professor of Business
Department of Risk Management

The Department of Risk Management of the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Actuarial Science.

JOB DESCRIPTION/ QUALIFICATIONS

This position is a tenure-track appointment with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate level.  Candidates must have a PhD or expect to complete all requirements by August 2013.  Preference will be given to those with a degree in hand in Actuarial Science or Mathematics or Statistics with an Actuarial Science concentration.  Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to conduct quality research publishable in the top academic journals and, provide classroom and individual instruction for undergraduate degree-seeking students.

Assistant Professor of Business Law
Department of Risk Management


The Department of Risk Management of the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Business Law.  The successful candidate will be hired at the Assistant Professor rank.

Job Description/Qualifications

This position is a tenure-track appointment with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and MBA levels. A qualified candidate must demonstrate interest in and capacity to conduct quality scholarly research as well as a high level of teaching competence. All successful candidates are expected to pursue an active research program, perform undergraduate and graduate teaching, and supervise graduate students. Candidates must have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school by time of appointment. The department has an interest in candidates with a background in securities law, real estate law or legal aspects of risk management including insurance regulation, but other backgrounds will be considered as well.  Candidates with a second degree in a business-related field at either the masters or undergraduate level, a record of publishing in the field of business law, and/or teaching experience in higher education in the field of business law are particularly encouraged to apply.

Associate/Full Professor of Business Economics
Department of Risk Management

The Department of Risk Management in the Smeal College of Business seeks to fill a position in business economics at the rank of (tenured or untenured) Associate Professor or Full Professor.

Job Description/Qualifications

The Risk Management Department is an interdisciplinary department with faculty conducting research in business economics, insurance, real estate, business law, and actuarial science. The College is also the home to the Laboratory for Economics Management and Auctions (LEMA), which specializes in the conduct of laboratory economics experiments, and preference will be given to candidates with an interest in experimental economics or related fields. A qualified candidate must have a Ph.D. and demonstrate capacity to conduct quality scholarly research as well as high level of teaching competence. All successful candidates are expected to pursue an active research program, perform undergraduate and graduate teaching, and supervise graduate students.

Candidates should have demonstrated a significant influence on the profession by their research and publications and a commitment to teaching excellence. Candidates for a Full Professorship should also be nationally recognized for their work.

Clinical Faculty Position
Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems (SC&IS)

The Supply Chain & Information Systems Department at the Smeal College of Business, The Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA), invites applications for a non-tenure track, clinical faculty position in Supply Chain Management. The appointment is available for either January 2013 or August 2013, and is renewable every three years based on teaching and service performance.

We seek an individual who has prior teaching and/or professional experience in areas directly related to Supply Chain Management.  We desire candidates who (1) can help design and deliver courses in our undergraduate programs, as well as in our on-line graduate degree programs in supply chain management, (2) have the potential to participate in executive education is desirable, and (3) hold a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management or a closely related area. This is an ideal appointment for the individual who wishes to concentrate on teaching and has strong interests in mentoring students, supporting program events, and promoting industry outreach.

The primary selection criteria are knowledge of the field, excellent teaching and outreach capabilities, and strong recommendations.

The Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems offers a highly ranked program that is among the largest in North American with over 1,000 students and 30 full-time faculty.  The individual chosen will join a collegial and vibrant professional program.

Tenure-Track Faculty Position (All Ranks)
Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems (SC&IS)

The Supply Chain & Information Systems Department at the Smeal College of Business, The Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA), invites applications for three tenure-track faculty positions in Supply Chain Management, available in August 2013.

Candidates for the Full or Associate Professor positions must have a strong commitment to pursue high-impact research focused on industry-driven problems in supply chain management, to contribute to the development and successful placement of doctoral students in top research universities, to support program-building efforts via service and scholarship, to teach successfully in both graduate and undergraduate programs, to support industry outreach initiatives, and to promote interdisciplinary research collaboration. Salary, rank, and endowment opportunities are competitive.

Candidates for the Assistant Professor position must have a doctorate (granted or nearly complete) in supply chain management or a directly related primary field.  Candidates interested in empirical research are encouraged to apply.  The primary selection criteria are outstanding research potential, excellent teaching capabilities, and strong recommendations.

Part-Time Instructor in Supply Chain Management
Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems (SC&IS)

The Smeal College of Business invites applications for a part-time instructor position in Supply Chain Management, available February 2013. This is a two year, fixed term renewable appointment subject to mutual agreement at the end of the second year for additional years on a one year renewable appointment basis.

Job Description:


The individual appointed will provide instructional support assist and student assessment for an online graduate course covering the integration of new product development, manufacturing, and supply chain management. Assessments include evaluation of supply chain and new product design case studies, evaluation of supply chain simulation performance, and an actual design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA) product assessment. Assignment evaluations require detailed professional and technical written feedback as well as the determination of assignment grades.

Teaching load includes one course in each of the Spring (February-May) and Fall (September-December) semesters. Typical course size is 50-75 students.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum requirement is a Masters in Engineering (Ph.D. preferred) and a demonstrated knowledge as well as experience in modern supply chain management. Excellent teaching and communication skills are required. Strong professional recommendations are also expected. The assigned course presents product development/realization in a business context and is designed for engineering students. The individual selected will be expected to understand the inner workings of product design and materials and be able to access the implications of choices in these matters from both an engineering and business perspective. The individual must also be available to meet periodically throughout the semester with the course’s lead instructors.
