Lizabeth H. Zlatkus, ’81, is an insurance industry veteran, with broad experience in P&L management, finance and risk. She held many senior leadership positions during her 28 year tenure at The Hartford Financial Services Group, including her roles as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Risk Officer as well as Co-President of Hartford Life Insurance Companies. Zlatkus has demonstrated the ability to lead large international, complex organizations from both a general management as well as financial and risk perspective.
Zlatkus consults on insurance and leadership issues, serves as a mentor to students and women in the workforce and is currently pursuing BOD roles in the for profit sector.
Zlatkus has been recognized for her professional achievements and contributions to the community. In 1999, she participated as a member of The President’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities; Business Insurance magazine named her as one of the top 100 women executives in 2000 and 2006; The Hartford Business Journal named Zlatkus one of its “Eight Remarkable Women” in 2008; Profiles in Diversity Journal named Zlatkus to its Women Worth Watching list in 2008; and the Connecticut Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation recognized Zlatkus as its Community Leader of the Year in 2009. Zlatkus formerly served as Regulatory Chair for the North American Chief Risk Officers Council. She was a member on the Hewlett Packard Financial Services Board of Advisors and the LOMA Board of Directors. She is currently the Chair of the Pennsylvania State University SMEAL Business School Board, and serves on the Connecticut Science Center Trustee Board.
Zlatkus graduated with distinction from The Pennsylvania State University in 1981 and was selected as an Alumni Fellow in 2003.
